POKEMON
GOTTA CATCH EM ALL
While Victory Road is based in the Kanto and Johto regions, for the sake of member freedom, Pokemon from all complete generations can be found and caught there, though Gen I and II Pokemon will be more prevalent.
Members are free to encounter and catch Pokemon as they want, and wild encounters are not generated or moderated by staff. Additionally, how you obtain your Pokemon is up to you, whether your character catches it, befriends it, is gifted or traded it, etc. There is no limit to the amount of Pokemon a trainer can catch over a set time period, however we do request that members be reasonable. Pokemon listed as Rare would be much harder to find in the wild (if even possible at all!) than Common ones, and higher evolution forms would be more likely to be obtained through trade or gift. The exception is Banned Pokemon which, naturally, cannot be caught, but may feature in site wide events and contests. As cool as they are, we also ask that members limit themselves to only having one, MAYBE two shiny versions of any Pokemon since they are meant to be a very special, very rare occurrence, and it should be noted that Alolan forms of Pokemon cannot be found naturally in Kanto or Johto.
The same freedom of choice applies for new characters and their starting teams. Members are free to pick what Pokemon their character starts with but, again, we simply ask that members be reasonable and use common sense. A seasoned Gym Leader could understandably start with a full team of experienced Pokemon, but a trainer just starting out would of course only have their inexperienced starter.
Overall, obtaining and having Pokemon should be done for the sake of your character and story development, and not simply to collect them or Min-Max potential teams.
While members are not required to notify staff every time they catch a Pokemon, staff may periodically check to make sure members are being honest and reasonable, and if anyone is found to have breached this trust they may be required to notify staff of any future Pokemon they catch. Additional breaches or more serious problems may result in a temporary ban on that member catching Pokemon.
All Pokemon not listed under Rare or Banned are considered Common.
