Vating enjoyed this festival quite a bit, but he decided to take some time to go over to the outskirts of the town and see what he could catch, he hadn't ever even bothered doing so beforehand, so this was good practice. Upon reaching a stream, he decided to begin hunting for some water types. The first thing he saw was a Lotad who was busy sleeping on the stream. He tossed out Ducksin and allowed it a quick win with a psychic attack. It was a little too easy because he got the drop on the Lotad and just moved it over to land, allowing Vating to toss a pokeball and easily capture it.

Vating continued on his way, hoping to find something else, quickly finding a playful little Poliwag hopping around. He shrugged and decided to catch it as well. He tossed out Stalion the Horsea, who challenged the Poliwag to a battle. The Poliwag agreed and their battle commenced. Poliwag came in with an early water gun, hitting Stalion pretty hard and knocking her back. Vating said, "Stalion, use dragon pulse." Stalion let out a nod and fired a beam of energy that blew the Poliwag back even further. She jumped in the air a couple times before the Poliwag returned with a mud shot. Vating said, "Stalion, jump over it then finish this with dragon pulse." Stalion did as instructed, jumping over the two blasts of mud coming at her and then fired off a second dragon pulse at the Poliwag, finishing it off. Vating tossed a pokeball as Stalion lands on his arm. The ball hits the now fainted Poliwag and with a few twitches, the Poliwag is his.

Vating continued on his little hunt until he reached a small waterfall with a Froakie sitting on a tall rock, surrounded by many smaller rocks. It was a nice place for a battlefield and the Froakie was thinking just that as it turned to Vating and gave a glare, with the signs of a challenge behind it. Vating was happy to oblige as he tossed out Vapor the Eevee. She gave a happy little cry before looking at the Froakie and returning the glare. The Froakie started jumping from rock to rock and immediately attacking with a bubble. Vapor quickly dodges using the rocks in the same way she uses the platforms in the gym to get around on the water and battle the occasional trainer. It works, though with the rocks being thinner than the platforms, it isn't nearly as easy and she isn't nearly as quick as she could be. Upon seeing her trouble, Vating knew he couldn't do anything to help with that, but could do this, saying, "Jump into the air and use swift from above!" Vapor listens and hops off the rock she is on only to see the Froakie had gone for a pound and ran into the rock. She used her swift attack and had knocked the Froakie off the rocks and onto shore where the fight was even. Vapor hopped off one rock and landed right in front of Vating.
"Rush it with quick attack!" Vapor dashed forward and immediately threw the Froakie back even further, though he recovered and countered with a bubble, blasting Vapor into the ground. It was powerful alright, and it knew it. Froakie stood there as Vapor climbed to her feet, not attacking until she is completely up. It rushed her with a pound and pushed her back even further. Vating remained calm, keeping his cool, which allowed Vapor to keep her cool, then said, "Vapor, sand attack, then quick attack!" Vapor run up to Froakie and used her tail to kick up some sand, temporarily blinding the little pokemon. That was her opening to hit it with quick attack. Vating then followed up with, "Use swift, finish it!" Vapor didn't hold back, as it was still standing and currently shaking off the sand. She jumped over Froakie and hit it with the swift full force, knocking up a dust cloud. As the dust settled, a Froakie could be seen on the ground, fainted. Vapor made a leap for joy and almost fell over as Vating tossed a pokeball at the Froakie. With a few shakes, Froakie was their's. Vapor made another leap into Vating's arms as he laughed and returned her. He turned back towards the Festival and the pokemon center. Next stop was to wherever Yorlam was...
((Sorry for short story, just had to explain where the three Pokemon Vating had in Yorlam's thread came from really quick. No I'm not counting the Froakie as Vating's rare, I'll count it as Yorlam's because she's getting it anyways.))
