They festival was going quite well. Vating had been showing trainers around and letting them check out Aqueous. He was quite enjoying himself. Yorlam was over at the games like most of the children were, but would constantly look over for approval, which she got. He didn't know why she'd always do that, but he'd probably find out eventually. For once, she wasn't with one of his pokemon, which made him a little happy, knowing she was starting to not want to always be with one of his. It would allow him to get her her own pokemon soon enough.
He continued on his way, leaving the festival in sight, until he found a battle arena. It had been a while since he actually had a battle seeing as he'd closed down to prepare for this event. Maybe if someone else would show up, they could have a friendly match.

Are you insane like me?
Are you high enough without the Mary Jane like me? Do you tear yourself apart to entertain like me? Do the people whisper 'bout you on the train like me? Saying that you shouldn't waste your pretty face like me? It has been been a long day for the young gym leader. The Kanto festival being held in Azalea town was bothering her to no end. While she would have preferred to stay at her home in Pewter, it was also her duty to come out to these kind of events. Promoting her Gym brings people to her town, which brings money that she can win to keep funding her trips to exotic caves and fossil hunting.
The town had a nice feel to it, a small quaint feeling. It reminds her of when Pewter was smaller as a kid, but has grown over the years. She met with the guest of the festival, talking about her research to those who cared, and showing off her Aerodactyl to the aspiring pokemon masters, encouraging them to follow their dream and that she will see them one day.
Lulu continued to walk around the festival, peeking in on random battles or coordinating contest. The festival was lively, great food, and the entertainment just kept her intrigued enough to stay for the night. She heard of an Arena, and made her way there, hoping for something spectacular to see. Upon arrival, she noticed a lone man standing there, as if awaiting a challenge. Lulu didn't care the most for battling outside of her gym, and was going to take a seat in the stands when she noticed who it was.
;She walked down to her fellow Gym Leader, tapping him on the shoulder. "You know, you probably have more luck with a match at your gym."

Vating turned to the the person tapping his shoulder, knowing that she's a fellow gym leader, Only separated by Mount Moon to be exact, "I was just wandering around." He looked around to check on Yorlam, noting that she was doing fine, then turned back to Lulu, saying, "So, how about a match, we could probably get a large crowd around just by being here." He motioned behind him, right to the people pointing both of them out. He finished with, "To make a show of it, one low-tier, one mid-tier, and one high-tier pokemon. We'll show an adventure with it."

Are you insane like me?
Are you high enough without the Mary Jane like me? Do you tear yourself apart to entertain like me? Do the people whisper 'bout you on the train like me? Saying that you shouldn't waste your pretty face like me? Lulu looked at her fellow gym leader. This man always seemed so eager, and she normally turned down all instances of people asking for a battle outside of her gym. But with the Kanto Festival going on, it sure would entice new trainers to make their way to Kanto challenge the gyms. She nodded in agreement, making her way to the far left side of the arena.
The atmosphere felt perfect for trying to get a battle going. It would be fun for her Pokemon, and maybe the spectators would like it. A three against three battle was unusual, as it is usually three people against three, so one person leading three pokemon against another three is going to come down to a battle of quick thinking, coordination, and the bond between the pokemon.
Lulu thought for a moment, thinking about her three pokemon of choice. Aerodactyl is usually her go to choice for high profile matches, but seeing as she may need to fly home, better not to do that. With a nod she grabbed the three pokeballs, tossing them all into the air.
She watched as a flurry of pokeball flashes let loose her choices. A giant dinosaur pokemon, Tantrum the Tyrantum stomped his feet on the ground, letting loose a loud roar to signal he is ready for battle. Rhy-Rhy the Rhyhorn was ready to go, stretching his legs and kicking the ground, showing that he can outrun any other pokemon. And then came Coral the Corsola, the baby of her team. She had a more gentle personality and was her choice for new trainers with little badges. The sunlight glistened off of her branches, and she was busy jumping around, looking to have some fun.

Vating took her silence as she went to the other side of the field as an accepted challenge and thought about his pokemon for a moment, taking many pondering steps while thinking. Aqueous was definitely going onto the team, he'd be able to easily tank the heaviest of attacks, and dish out an almost, if not even stronger blast. He eventually made a decision on the other two and grabbed their balls.
With his own flash of light from the pokeballs, out came Aqueous the Blastoise, Zeal the Floatzel, and Vapor the Eevee. Aqueous because he can easily take damage, dish out more, and is his ace. Zeal because he's a nice mid-tier pokemon who has some speed, power, and gives most people between four to six badges a rough time. Vapor the Eevee, she was actually still a baby for the most part, but the training she got for his gym gives her a distinct advantage early on.
The two teams seemed to be ready to go and seeing as there were two gym leaders who generally give the challenger the first move, Vating decided to be the gentleman and let Lulu go first, "You've got the first move." He knew his plan for her first attacks though.
By now, a small group of people had gathered and were sitting at the stands. It was growing quite rapidly and they might fill up a quarter of the stands.

| Vating Hamlick | NOTES: Sandstorm area effect, Thunderbolt and Rock Blast fired at Staryu
|
Lulu watched as Vating chose his team for the match up. That Blastoise was his signature pokemon, and she expected it to be chosen. The Floatzel was a strong pokemon, and with its size and stature it definetly has an advantage. Eeve is to small and the maneuverability it has is great, leaving that to be Corsola's job. But with some type disadvantages here, she would need to out think her opponent.
Tantrum looked at his teammates, and then at his adversaries. This battle will surely be interesting, and that Blastoise looked like something that would easily crush between his mighty jaws. The battle was ready to commence.
Lulu motioned for Corsola to stand on top of Rhyhorn. The best way to win this battle will be to just start knocking them down, get it so she has the number advantage first. While Corsola and Tyrantum aren't that worried about water moves, Rhyhorn is. With her plan formulated, she started to motion for her pokemon to start running out.
"Tantum, use Sandstorm!" The giant dinosaur stomped its feet into the ground, moving it's large tail back and forth to whip up a sandstorm, making it harder to see and hopefully changing the tide of the battle.
She looked at her Rhyhorn that was charging in, Coral was standing on his back, waiting for commands. "Rhy-Rhy, run towards Floatzel then fire off a thunderbolt! Coral, use Rock Blast!" The Rhyhorn continued to run towards Floatzel, unleashing a bolt of thunder at the pokemon. Coral made 3 rings of silver energy appear above her, firing them all off at the Floatzel.

Vating knew the Tyrantrum would probably attack Aqueous soon, seeing as he's the largest target for the large pokemon, though he knew exactly how he'd win against that with Aqueous. The Corsola would be a problem to Vapor, along with the Ryhorn, but with Zeal around, she should stand strong. As soon as he finished his train of thought, the sandstorm kicked in, followed by the Rhyhorn and Corsola both charging towards Zeal, as soon as the thunderbolt fired, Vating shouting through the sandstorm, "Zeal, dive to the right! Vapor, use rain dance! Now Zeal use aqua tail on the rocks!"
Zeal dived to the right, noting a small explosion through all the sand, relieved he avoided that. Next, Vapor, who was being ignored at the moment, jumped around a little in her happy little dance, causing the sandstorm to be subsided by a thunderstorm. Just after that Zeal's swift swim ability came into play and he got significantly faster, allowing him to easily deflect each and every ring of energy into the ground to their side.
Vating turned to Aqueous now that that problem was solved and shouted through the rain now, "Aqueous! Hydro pump on the Tyrantrum! Get him mad!" He then turned back to Vapor and Zeal, who was currently bouncing around, throwing his fists into the air as a taunt to the Ryhorn, "Zeal! Use aqua tail on the Ryhorn! Vapor, dig into the ground!"
Aqueous did just that, firing two columns of water straight at the Tyrantrum, with the hopes of making it as mad as possible. Zeal made a mad dash at Ryhorn and Corsola (seeing as Corsola is also there), igniting his tail in the watery energy, intent on hitting Ryhorn, hard. Vapor dived straight into the ground, not to be seen.
Some people started seeing the battle increase in scale and the stands were starting to fill up, not that Vating or his teammates noticed.

| Vating Hamlick | NOTES: Tyrantum is using Rock Slide, Rhyhorn is using Earth Quake, Corsola is using Iron Defense.
|
Lulu watched the events of the battle unfold in front of her. The Floatzel was able to dodge the thunderbolt, and the eevee seemed to make a rain storm. While this probably wasn't the best situation, it surely isn't the worse. The rain would irritate Rhy-Rhy a little, but Coral and Tantrum will have no problem with it. The Blastoise was firing off a Hydro Pump at Tyrantum, the Floatzel was trying to get close with an Aqua Tail, and the Eevee dug into the ground. This situation is about to turn bad for Vating
"Tantrum, eat those Hydro Pumps!" The giant Tyrantum stood his grab, using his jaws to protect himself as he only moved back a few feet. It was strong, but nothing more than a minor annoyance. She nodded at the Tyrantum, before throwing her hand forward as if to charge forward. "Rock Slide!" The Tyrantum used his energy to make some nearby boulders, launching the boulders forward.
Lulu looked over to her Rhyhorn and Corsola. Her plan for this was simple. "Rhy-Rhy, use Earthquake!" With the Eevee in the ground, this is a sureway to hit it, and hopefully disrupt the other pokemon. Tantrum has been training with Rhy-Rhy for a while, so the earthquake shouldn't do more than make it a little harder to stand still.
She shifted her focus to Corsola. The Floatzel was going to land a serious hit on her Rhyhorn if she didn't think quickly. "Coral quick! Jump in front of that tail and use Iron Defense!" Coral jumped to quickly get in the way, hardening her body so the attack won't do much damage.

Vating had expected the rock slide to come in and shouted, "Aqueous, use iron defense, then get in close!" Aqueous suddenly became even harder to break than before, easily shaking off the rock slide as if it were nothing. He then starts rushing at the Tyrantrum, ready to get in up close and personal.
He then turned to Vapor and Zeal, not expecting the earthquake at all, luckily it would stop Vapor, just hurt her a little. Zeal's strike from the aqua tail hit Corsola and seeing as she jumped in the way, he used the attack to knock her out of the way for now, only to fall over afterwards, but quickly reattain himself. Aqueous was slowed even more by the earthquake, but easily able to keep his balance.
Vating then shouts, "Zeal, use aqua tail to slam Rhyhorn into the ground. Vapor, you know what to do." Zeal would do a quick frontflip to get his two tails onto the top of Rhyhorn with the intent of knocking him into the ground, using his speed to his advantage. No matter if he was successful or not, Vapor would come out of the ground right below Rhyhorn and hopefully knock him off balance at the very least, with her doing a little backflip to be caught by Zeal and set down. She looked beaten up by the earthquake, though was still standing.
