“At least you’re a strong swimmer.” With his hands set on his hips, Samael tilted his head at his blank-faced fish Pokemon, which swam contentedly in place despite the flow of the river. That had to say something about its strength, right? Samael hoped so anyway. He thought it was pretty big compared to most Magikarp, so maybe that said something, too. “And you’re cute, and you’re good at splashin’!!" Samael added enthusiastically, talking to the fish like someone might talk to a cute puppy. Standing in the river with the Pokemon, in his swim shorts and up to his waist in water, he splashed at the Magikarp, which it seemed to enjoy, as it wriggled in place before starting to flip its tail with greater excitement, splashing back. It made the low, monotonous call characteristic of all Magikarp, but to Samael it sounded a little happy, he thought. Karp karp karp karp.
A figure at the shore caught his attention then. He had thought he found a quiet place to swim off the beaten trail, south of Saffron, but this time of year when lots of trainers were about, it wouldn’t be surprising if one of them had wandered by. He scrutinized the stranger, who stood a little ways from where his clothes and nondescript black backpack had been left in the grass. The stranger was staring at him. Perhaps not uncalled for, considering he was a muscular, heavily tattooed man playing in the river with a Magikarp and talking to the Pokemon more like it was a cute little Igglybuff or something.
“OIIII, what’re you lookin’ at!?” Samael called over. His tone wasn’t exactly friendly, but whether it was unfriendly was hard to gauge.

“I swear, Lucky, I sometimes wonder if you do this to me on purpose.”
Luna sighed as she stared down at the Pokemon circling around her feet. Only moments earlier the pair had been travelling down Route 6 on their way to Saffron City, and by all accounts it had been a relaxing and pleasant day. Fair weather. No trainers in sight. A problem free journey. And then the wild Pidgey appeared. It had only taken a moment for Lucky to spot the bird Pokemon, and before Luna could so much as yell, the Eevee had darted into the woods in pursuit. It was almost a miracle in itself that the coordinator was able to keep up. Thankfully for her though Lucky had decided to give up his game sooner rather than later, and the two were together again not long afterwards.
And hopelessly lost.
Luna again shielded her eyes from the sun and scanned the surrounding trees, but try as she might there was no sign of the road. There was no sign of anything really. Just trees, grass, and a best friend who would one day be the end of her.
“Well, now what?”
In response Lucky abruptly stopped its movement and began to sniff the ground. A moment later the Eevee cried out and, to Luna’s dismay, charged off again through the trees.
“L-Lucky!”
Groaning the coordinator slung her bag over her shoulder and followed behind. She soon became aware that the Pokemon was leading her toward what sounded like flowing water, and sure enough the pair burst through the forest and onto a grassy riverbank not long afterwards. What surprised Luna more though was spotting her Eevee jumping excitedly around what looked like discarded clothes and a bag.
Seeing this the girl squinted and stared out into the river, and sure enough she spotted the form of a rather large man playing and talking to his…Magikarp? Alright. Before Luna could so much as decide whether to call out to the stranger or take her chances in the woods and avoid tangling with a potential weirdo, she heard him shout toward her, more-or-less demanding to know what she was doing.
And as much as she wanted to point out that anyone would stare at a muscular guy coddling a fish, Luna decided to take the more tact approach.
“Sorry to bother you! I was wondering if you knew how to get to Saffron City from here?”
Looking down at the Eevee now standing next to her, the girl quickly added:
“We’re a little lost.”
OOC: Hope you don't mind if I join! Also I apologize for how long this got cries, the rest of my replies should be better.
