Occupations

The following are the occupations which your character can have at Victory Road. Though there's only a limited number of categories, keep in mind that with the "Other" option you're pretty much free to be whatever you want! The only real limitation is that members are only allowed to have up to two Gym Leaders at a time.


While all individuals who have Pokemon could be considered a "trainer", Trainers are specifically those whose main goal is to battle and train their Pokemon in hope of becoming the strongest in their region. Most set out to take their region's gym challenge, and once they have all eight badges, to challenge the Elite Four and the region's Champion. Trainer's may also often seek to complete their Pokedex by trying to find and catch all 802 Pokemon.

While Trainers try to grow their Pokemon through battles, Breeders nurture and train their Pokemon by caring for them and breeding suitable pairs to produce stronger offspring with unique moves or abilities. Because of the large amount of knowledge on Pokemon nature required to do so, non-traveling Breeders may often act as care takers, daycare workers, or Pokemon vets, among others.


Coordinators are similar to Trainers in many ways, but the one big difference is that instead of entering the gym challenge, Coordinators instead seek to compete in contests and win enough ribbons to eventually enter the Grand Festival. Though often formidable trainers themselves, Coordinators usually focus more on their Pokemon's aesthetic appeal and performance ability over raw strength.

Pokemon Rangers are a group of trainers who use their Pokemon to protect the wilderness of their region, battling against poachers, criminals, and anyone else who would seek to harm wild Pokemon or abuse their environment. Rangers also help rescue Pokemon or trainers who become lost or stranded between towns.

While Rangers protect the wilderness, Police Officers seek to protect the cities and other more civilized areas of a region. Whether chasing after common criminals or battling against the likes of Team Rocket, Police Officers strive to keep other trainers and their Pokemon safe, while making sure they uphold the law.


Team Rocket is a criminal organization who seeks to exploit Pokemon for wealth and power, with the eventual goal of world domination. Though fractured and left weak after the defeat of Giovanni at the hands of Red and the later defeat of Archer by Gold, the resources of the organization are still vast, and many seek to return Team Rocket to it's former glory.

Gym Leaders are experienced trainers who specialize in a specific Pokemon type and head the gyms of their respective towns. Though strong, most Gym Leaders seek to educate more so than outright defeat the trainers that come to challenge their gym, and ultimately prepare them to take on the Elite Four. The Elite Four themselves are often considered the top four trainers in their respective region, minus the Champion themselves, and defeating any Gym Leader or member of the Elite Four is a difficult task.

Any individual who does not fall in one of the above categories are considered "other", though by no means are they unremarkable as a result. Other occupations may include anything from photographers to scientists and archeologists to shop keepers, and everything in between. Though they do not usually actively train or battle with them, these individuals frequently have Pokemon to help in their job or to act simply as companions and pets.
