Tehya was born to Karly and Maxwell Draygoon in Pallet Town. She is the youngest of all her siblings. Her brother Damien is twenty and left on his journey when he was only eleven she rarely saw him after he left. Two years later her sister Amy left to start her journey also at the age of eleven. Than one year her other brother Axel twin brother to her sister Amy left. Four years came and went and finally Tehya was eleven years old and was able to start her journey but she was afraid to. She didn't now what she wanted to be. Damien was a Trainer and had beaten the elite four, Amy was also a great trainer, while Axel was a breeder and was currently working with another breeder. She wanted to wait another year but her parents wanted to leave the region and travel to others. So she finally made the decision to leave. As long as she could remember she was in love with dragon pokemon. The day she planned to go to the professors lab to pick out a starter her parents surprised her with a gift. It was an egg, they refused to tell her what was inside but they told her to take very good care of it and she wouldn't regret it. Wrapping her arms around the egg she headed to the lap where she found the saddest looking pokemon she had ever seen. The Professor told her that he had recently found it abandoned by it's trainer tied to a rock. It was healthy now but before it was very week from starvation and dehydration. Tehya immediately claimed it as her starter and promised to take very good care of the Deino.

Together the two began their travels, She named her Uno since she was the only pokemon she had as well as the first. Though they traveled and battled many pokemon Tehya never captured them. She would heal the pokemon than go on her way. One month, two months, three months went by before Tehya finally saw the egg her parents gave her begin to shake. She stopped and camped for the night in Mt. Moon. By morning the egg had hatched into an adorable Goomy which she named Gum Drop. She put Gum Drop in a Poke'ball but only for a second so no one could ever catch it and take him away from her. She let it out as soon as the pokemon was captured and never put it back in the poke'ball again. Tehya camped there for a week before finally moving on. Together the three of them traveled for a couple more months before reaching Saffron City where her brother Axel had built his own breeding shop. Here she stayed for the next year and a half helping her brother unsure what she wanted to do with her life. But finally on her thirteenth birthday she realized what she wanted to be. She wanted to become a Dragon Collector. She wanted to collect all of the dragon type pokemon and planned to travel everywhere to find all the different type of dragon pokemon she could. In the mean time she would work on making Uno and Gum Drop stronger so they would be ready to battle even the strongest of opponents. She said goodbye to Axel and left Saffron City.
