Kanto Festival (Event)

It was the late afternoon, just as the humidity of the day was starting to subside for the cooler night weather. A bustling crowd of people were waiting in the center of Azalea Town, all of them in front of an enormous stage that had been erected. The talk of the town was about the festivity that was about to occur. The townspeople had won a bid to have this festival held in their town, and were hoping that it would bring even more prosperity to it. Their wish had been granted as the group that came for this opening ceremony had arrived from across the region.

A hush came across the audience as a single figure walked out onto stage. The announcer was adorned in an outfit that seemed to look like a Slowpoke cosplay. She reached the end of the stage so that she could see everyone better.

“GOOD EVENING!” She shouted out to the entire audience. The audience reacted in kind, shouting back to her. “I hope you all are just as excited as I am to be here!” The line was met with another joyous cry from the audience. “I see many of you out there have come a loooooong ways to get here, and I just want to thank you all for coming out! I’d like to welcome you all to the opening ceremony of this year’s Kanto Festival! We’ll be here to celebrate our neighbors, the Kanto Region, by enjoying delicacies from across the plateau, as well as learning more about the Pokemon that can be found there! So, to start off this festival, I bring you our two guests of honor. The first is someone from our very own Johto Region. Many of you know him from his incredible journey from New Bark Town all the way to beating the Elite Four. Our other guest of honor you will recognize as being from the Kanto Region, and often hailed as the strongest Pokemon Trainer. I bring you the Pokemon Champions Red and Gold!”

An enormous cheer blasts the surrounding the area. Groups begin chanting the names of their fan club’s champion. The announcer gives a smile and directs her hand back to the empty stage. A blast of smoke engulfs the stage.

“Pibo, use whirlwind,” a voice commanded from within the cloud of smoke. After he spoke, a breath of wind flew into the smoke and created a tornado, spiraling upwards from the stage. The wind suddenly cleared and the stage could once again be seen. Now, standing in the center of the stage was a single individual wearing a red jacket and a black hat with a noticeable golden stripe. At the sight of this individual the crowd went wild. Specifically, a group wearing matching outfits that seemed to mimic the individual on stage.

“So, how is everyone doing to tonight!” Gold shouted to the audience. They responded with responses of good, though some had confused looks at the missing Red. “I see you can tell Red is missing, I’m sorry but I don’t know where he is, if you can find him, be sure to let me know, I owe him a battle!’

‘Anyways, I hope you all are fired up for this exciting festival! I had the chance to visit the Kanto region in my travels, and let me tell you it is truly unique, I can only hope you guys can appreciate it here! So, let me give you a rundown of some of the events you can expect to see at this Kanto Festival. The first is for you trainers out there, there will be a tournament style battle, enjoy it, I’ll also be commentating if you are interested! Next is for you breeders out there. A beauty contest will be held as well! Also, for you performers out there, we will also be having a Contest, so get yourself and your Pokemon ready to show off. Now, I’m sure many of you out there might still be interested in other things, so to entertain you, we have Magikarp Scooping, grab one and keep it as a pet, just be careful how you treat it, because they hold a grudge,” Gold laughed, “ trust me, have you ever seen a raging Gyarados? Anyways, we’ll be having Tauros Wrangling, Rhyhorn Racing, Bop-A-Digglett, Mr. Mime’s Mime Off, and many more. I hope you enjoy them. So without further ado, I proclaim this Kanto Festival started!”

As Gold ended his speech he tossed three pokeballs into the air, each opening and calling forth his companions. A Charizard, Venasaur, and Blastoise stood on stage, each performing a signature move as fireworks were let off in the background.


Alright everyone, Red and I would like to formally kick off Victory Road’s first event, the Kanto Festival. There is no end date for now, but expect it to go on for a week or two. Hopefully this can be a lot of fun. Feel free to make up your own minigames based around Kanto Pokemon if you want something special. If you have any questions, feel free to leave them below!
