As is easily presumed, Samael came from a troubled household that shaped him into the beastly maniac he is today - though growing up in Team Rocket certainly had some influence in that, too. His father was a Team Rocket scientist, and his mother was a hex maniac. His family having a history in Team Rocket, Samael followed suit, often helping with his father’s research. He was trained from a young age to act as something like a hunting dog, set after anyone Team Rocket wanted intimidated or captured.

Besides his athleticism and freerunning feats - and reasonable skill at cooking - Pokemon battling seems to be the only thing he’s good for. He was given Pokemon in his early teens from his father, but for the Haunter he grew up with that has been passed down through his family on his mother’s side. Some of his coworkers blame the Haunter for Samael’s madness, but how much truth there is in that is debatable.

His Magnemite and Poochyena were given to him by his father. His Magikarp was purchased from a salesman, and his Mawile he caught for himself while working in Hoenn for a time. After Team Rocket’s disbandment, Samael took to roaming and honing his battling skills, stirring trouble in his wake and accumulating many more enemies than friends. He still has somewhat of a reputation in Kanto’s criminal underground, but with what remains of Team Rocket slinking under the radar, his activity, too, has been rather quiet.
